Magnolia was an amazing woman. A wife, Mother, Grandmother, and an extraordinary cook, who set the standard for Southern cuisine, and hospitality, for decades in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. She put as much love into her into her cooking, as she did her family.
Our menu is filled with her personal recipes, handed down through generations, and brought to life in beautiful fashion, as a timeless tribute to this magnificent woman. Once you savor the sweet, robust, infusion of flavors on our menu, we’re sure, you too, will be a fan of Magnolia.
This unique dine-in restaurant combines the very best of Southern hospitality, with an extensive array of traditional Southern dishes, creative interpretations of Southern favorites, modern cuisine, and an amazing Soul Food carry-out bar, all wrapped in a family-friendly, yet elegant atmosphere.
The brainchild of Detroit native Carolyn Cannon, the restaurant is affectionately named after her Mother, Magnolia, and committed to a standard of culinary excellence
that would make Magnolia proud.
Sweet Magnolia’s has no plans to let grass grow under their feet. Although they’ve just opened their first Southern cooking location in Southfield, the restaurant plans to open a private banquet hall right next door. The facility can house up to 111 guests and will play host to parties, receptions, showers, corporate events, and reunions, all treated to Sweet Magnolia’s incredible cuisine, elegant décor, and meticulous event planning.
